Review: Vengeance Bound

Vengeance Bound
Vengeance Bound by Justina Ireland
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Corinne “Cory” Graff has recently moved into yet another new apartment in another new town to begin school at approximately her 9th high school in two years. As a young girl Corys worries should range from whether she will fit in to the right clique at her new school or whether she will be popular or whether she will be home in time before her Mom gets mad. However all is not as it seems.

Corys new friends at high school see a beautiful blonde girl that does well in her schoolwork and doesn’t seem to have a bad bone in her body. But Cory is only one side of the coin.

In reality the girl we meet is Amelie Ainsworth. A vengeance bound orphan intent on hunting down and destroying the Doctor that used her as a human guinea pig in experimental treatments. Amelie is deadly dangerous as she is one of The Furies. Three dark and deadly mythical creatures that aim to gain justice for victims of cruelty,hurt and abuse.

~~~~~~~~~
In the beginning as the premise of the story was unfolding and I was learning about the events that led up to Cory hunting I was intrigued and excited to continue the adventure. However I felt as though the story was very drawn out in times. Some of the monologues Cory has in her head got repetitive and distracting. Towards the end I found myself skipping a lot of the text outside of dialogue. I didn’t like any of the other characters introduced as Corys new friend circle. The characters were all very irritating , childish and immature in their own ways and I constantly found myself wanting to give some of them a kick.
This book was a little bit of a let down as I believe the premise holds uch promise.
